The first domino in the college football coaching carousel fell on Sunday, as Joker Phillips was fired at Kentucky. Phillips led the Wildcats to a...
It’s tough to win at Kentucky, a school that is more well-known for its basketball program, but Joker Phillips gave it his best shot. Unfortunately for Phillips, his two losing seasons compounded with a 1 – 9 record to start this season were just too much to overcome. Earlier today Kentucky announced that Phillips will not return next season although he will be allowed to coach...
Suddenly, the Kentucky Wildcats football program are daily headline makers…but not for necessarily good reasons. In Joker Phillips weekly teleconference (and bless the man for actually doing one considering the circumstances), he spoke about his being fired, how his players are dealing with it, and what his next step will likely be. My guess is he’s able to latch on as a wide...
The Kentucky Wildcats will play under recently-dismissed head coach Joker Phillips in their final two games of the season, the school announced Monday.
When a game is lost by a margin which evokes the word historic you know that something is going to come from it. So it was this week when Kentucky coach Joker Phillips was fired shortly after his Wildcats lost 40-0 to the Commodores. That loss, by the way, was the worst by Kentucky to Vanderbilt since 1916. Which would make the whole thing very historic indeed.
Joker Phillips and his staff at Kentucky will not be back in the Commonwealth next football season. As a result of the pending coaching change, some committed prospects are beginning to look at other options for their college football futures. Hinds Community College defensive tackle David Washington is now back on the open market, but he may not be available for long.
The joke's over at Kentucky. After being out-coached and having his team out-played in all but one game this season, Big Blue ousted Joker Phillips as head coach following a 40-0 embarrassment at the hands of Vanderbilt.
One of the least desirable coaching spots in the SEC is now up for grabs, however, just because it is a stepping stone coaching destination does not mean...
As soon as Kentucky fired head coach Joker Phillips on Sunday, it was only hours before Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease was thrown onto the list of rumored names for the job. Pease served as the offensive coordinator at Kentucky from 2001-02 and has spoken highly of the job at multiple times this season. However, he doesn’t want to talk about it or become a distraction to his team.
It's only been two days since Kentucky announced head football coach Joker Phillips would be fired, and already the insane replacement rumors are starting to fly. The Jackson Clarion-Ledger relays the rumor that UK is supposedly interested in talking to New York Jets head football coach Rex Ryan to see if he's like to have the job. Yes, the 3-5 NY Jets head coach Rex Ryan...
As you all know, Bobby Petrino does not have a job. And according to The Courier-Journal’s Adam Himmelsbach who spoke to Petrino’s father, he wants a job. And he wants one bad.
So bad, that his father says that he is actually interested in the open Kentucky job that Joker Phillips was just thrown out of.
Now for the most part, the Kentucky football program is one that pursues...
Joker Phillips, formerly the head football coach for the University of Kentucky, was on the hot seat this season. Then his squad got blown out by Vanderbilt this past weekend. Getting blown out by Vandy when you are on the hot seat lands you in the unemployment line and now Kentucky is looking for a new head coach.
Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports has named Atlanta Falcons offensive...
So...what do you think about disgraced former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino taking over for Joker Phillips at Kentucky?
Yeah, us too.
The beginnings of the silly coaching rumor season kicked off in earnest this week when Phillips was fired after the season ends and Idaho fired their coach on the heels of a 1-8 start.
The Carousel started picking...
