On Monday, Nick Saban decided that he needed to let the world know that it was unfair for the loser Saturday’s SEC Championship game to fall below the Florida Gators in the BCS and miss out on the Sugar Bowl. Saban’s entire premise for this was that the Gators didn’t win the SEC East. And that’s despite the fact that his Alabama team didn’t win the SEC West last season, but was still able to play in the BCS National Championship game.
Florida coach Will Muschamp naturally caught wind of the comments and offered a solution for Saban’s gripe: his Gators would switch places with the Tide and play for the SEC Championship instead of being locked in to the Sugar Bowl.
“Well, I can switch and go to Atlanta if he doesn’t want to go to Atlanta and play the Dawgs,” Muschamp said Monday. “Be careful what you ask for, Nick.”
Unlike Saban, Muschamp isn’t talking about “fairness”. He’s taking full responsibility for where his team sits in the BCS.
