Wisconsin made sure a Hail Mary wouldn't do it in this time. Instead, the Badgers pulled off the late-game heroics.
Heisman candidate Montee Ball ran for 137 yards and three scores, including the 7-yard game winner with 3 minutes, 45 seconds to play, and Wisconsin defeated Michigan State, 42-39, to win the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night in Indianapolis.
With the victory, the Badgers (11-2) earn a trip to Pasadena, Calif., where they will face Oregon in Jan. 2's Rose Bowl. The Ducks knocked off UCLA in Friday night's Pac-12 Championship Game.
On Saturday, the Spartans (10-3) and Badgers got off to a flying start, combining for 28 points in the first quarter. But Michigan State took the game over in the second quarter, outscoring Wisconsin 22-0 and taking a 29-21 lead into the half.
The Spartans maintained the lead throughout much of the second half, the Badgers scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull the game out. But the game was not finally decided until the final two minutes, when the Badgers, punting on a fourth-down play deep in their own territory, drew a running into the punter penalty to earn an automatic first down and negate a punt return inside the Badgers' 5-yard line.
Badgers QB Russell Wilson also had a big day, throwing for 187 yards and three scores.

Following their demolishing of UCLA in the first ever Pac-12 title game, the greatest compliment you can give Oregon coach Chip Kelly and his program is this: Nobody is surprised. And not by their third straight Pac-12 title and BCS bowl appearance. Above...

Les Miles, the head coach for Louisiana State University , stood in the hallway outside his team's locker room after the Tigers' 42-10 ruination of No. 12 Georgia in the Southeastern Conference championship game and was presented with the idea that L.S.U. was in the midst of the greatest season in college football .
