The #20 Wisconsin Badgers returned to their winning ways with a 62-17 shellacking of the Purdue Boilermakers. Running Back Montee Ball led an offense that racked up 605 total yards, including 364 via the ground. Wisconsin (7-2, 3-2) has won fifteen straight home games and scored at least 30 points in it’s last 11 at Camp Randall. What It Means: With a 45 point win over the Boilermakers, the Badgers made it even harder for the country to determine who the best team in the Big Ten is. If Wisconsin played every game at Camp Randall, they would be one of the best teams in the country, but unfortunately that’s not how the game of college football works. UW’s trips to Minnesota and Illinois will be huge in determining if this Badgers team is worthy of a BCS bowl bid. Even if they don’t make it to the Big Ten Championship or lose  in the game, there’s a possibility they receive an at-large bid in one of the big bowls. Player of the Game: Junior RB Montee Ball (20 ATT, 224 YD...

Wisconsin Football: Career day for Ball lifts Badgers over Purdue

‘Upset’ was the buzz word in the Big Ten today, but No. 20 Wisconsin left no room for that, running over Purdue, 62-17. Northwestern beat No. 10 Nebraska, 28-25, Iowa beat No. 15 Michigan 24-16, and Minnesota nearly beat No. 17 Michigan State, but came up just short, losing 24-31. None of the losers from those games are in the Leaders division with the Badgers, so none of the...

Ball's season-long scoring binge eye-opening

MADISON, Wis. With each graceful-yet-powerful run at the end zone on Saturdays this fall, Montee Ball pushes closer toward making running back history. The exact form that this history ultimately undertakes, however, remains undetermined at this juncture. Will it stop at Wisconsin history? Big Ten history? Perhaps even Division I college football history? As of this week, Ball, the...

Ball 2 TDs from single-season Big Ten record

With the victory, Wisconsin (7-2, 3-2 Big Ten) has now won 15 straight home games, which ties for the third-longest streak in school...

Despite big win, UW special teams worrisome

MADISON, Wis. The sound descending from the bleachers onto the football field at Camp Randall Stadium struck a peculiar tone late in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon, and it was one most Badgers players aren't accustomed to hearing from their devoted home faithful.Under any other circumstance, in fact, perhaps they could've been confused with a similar, more upbeat...

No. 19 Wisconsin 62, Purdue 17

Badgers Beat Down Boilermakers and Pointers

Some observations from this weekend: Montee Ball is really good, the game of the century was far from it, and I'm getting old. I assume you've gotten your fix on game stories from UW's soul cleansing win over Purdue so let's take a look at some news and notes from the weekend. Rankings and Game Times UW moved up to 16th in the AP, 14th in the Coaches, and 18th...
