Oregon's recruiting infractions haven't received the same national attention as problems at Penn State, Ohio State or Miami, but the Ducks may soon be joining the others on postseason probation. The NCAA's Oregon investigation stems from a $25,000 payment the school made to recruiter Willie Lyles' Complete Scouting Services in 2010, and the apparent impropriety that followed. Schools are permitted to use scouting services under NCAA rules, but must receive recruiting or scouting "packages"from services they pay at least four times per year. Oregon paid Lyles $25,000 and didn't seek a single package, then signed Lyles' highest-touted recruit, RB Lache Seastrunk. The combination of Lyles' official services being seemingly worthless, and the Ducks signing the best player he mentored, led many to charge the Ducks with shady, or downright illegal, recruiting practices (Seastrunk redshirted in Eugene for a year before transferring to Baylor).
