The 2009 Loons were arguably the most prospect heavy team in the system, and while a lot of that talent has moved on due to their success with the team, there is a lot of up and coming players to watch in 2010.

Players To Watch

SP-Allen Webster
SP-Brett Wallach
SP-Matt Magill
SP-Justin Miller
SP-Josh Wall

Webster and Wallach are the stars of this group, with extra emphasis on Webster. I think they'll give him a full season at low-A, but they could probably give high-A a chance if they are feeling aggressive with him. Webster has to prove he can handle full season ball, but I think he should adapt well. Wallach is a projection guy who I like more than most. When I saw him, his velocity was already easily sitting in the 90s and he has room for more. He needs time, but he seems to be making progress. Magill is another projection guy that is taking strides. I did a profile on him last year, and was sort of my sleeper. Miller is guy who is one breaking ball away from being a potential big leaguer. His power sinker is a groundball inducing machine, but he can't seem to miss any bats. Wall should be a reliever by now, as he's no longer a young guy that needs innings. A hard thrower, he has potential in that role.

RP-Andy Suiter
RP-Nick Gaudi

Gaudi is a big guy and it generally takes them a while longer to get going. He has an outside chance at being a major leaguer, but it's still a chance if he can make it to high-A by the end of this year. Suiter is another arm with a chance, but better control would go a long way.

C-Gorman Erickson
C-J.T. Wise

For the sake of both of them, I hope they aren't in a time share, although it looks like that would be the case. Erickson probably needs full-time at-bats more than Wise, but they could both use the playing time.

1B-Chris Jacobs

His first year in full season ball could be a rough one as he is still raw, even at 21. Still, the Dodgers needed to push the envelop to find out what they have with Jacobs, who could be a huge power threat if he ever puts it together. He flashed his potential last year, but it still hasn't put together a noteworthy performance to date.

LF-Brian Cavazos Galvez
LF-Angelo Songco
RF-Jerry Sands
RF-Blake Smith

Cavazos Galvez simply needs to show he can hit in an environment that is not favorable to hitters. If he can put up good numbers in this league, I think he's ready for AA. Songco has a bit more work to do, as his swing can get long, which explains his failure at full season ball last year. Hopefully he has made adjustments, as he has legitimate pop. Sands can hit, and he should continue hitting, but like Kyle Russell, he might find himself at low-A for the full year. If he can get over his strikeout problems, he could move to high-A this year, and move up the prospect lists quickly. Smith arguably has the most to prove out of anybody since he is a second round draft pick that absolutely flopped last year. Still, the skills are there to rebound, and he'll have to prove it in 2010 or risk a potential move to the mound.
