Found January 21, 2012 on Mets Merized Online: Yardbarker Blogger Network
With the hot stove season nearing its end, I’ll be chipping in a lot less on Mets news, and focus more on the upcoming First Year Player Draft in June, as I did last year. I’m currently working on my own “Top 15 Draft Prospects” list and a “Five Players To Watch” piece for the Mets top selections in 2012. Both will be ready in early February. I’m not going to do any mock drafts like I did last year, but instead I’m going to bring you some of the many mock drafts that will be popping on the web only as it pertains to the Mets. It will be a good way to get some perspective on who some see the Mets drafting. I’m also setting up several Q&A style interviews with some of the experts who focus on the MLB Draft. I also want to thank Joe for the spiffy graphic. Let’s leadoff with this mock draft from Buried Treasure who has the Mets pegged for third baseman Trey Williams out of Valencia High School in California with the #12 se...

Buster Olney Discusses David Wright’s Future With the New York Mets

David Wright and my desire for the New York Mets to trade him is a topic that I have discussed on several occasions since July.  I don’t think the New York Mets will be ready to contend before David Wright is an unquestioned free agent (the New York Mets hold a $16 million option for 2013) so it seems pointless – from a performance standpoint – to keep him around...

Could the Rockies trade for Justin Turner?

Troy Renck of the Denver Post says the Rockies had been trying to acquire Marco Scutaro from the Red Sox, but those talks have stalled and says it’s “more likely they get someone like Justin Turner than Scutaro now.” In December, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York said the Mets were interested in acquiring Eric Young from the Rockies, and said Turner could ‘get the deal...

Odds to win the 2012 World Series, Mets among the bottom feeders in the league

Just when you thought the local papers and some bloggers were in agreement that the Mets will have a terrible season, Vegas has come up with the latest odds to win the 2012 World Series. The Mets are a 100/1 shot to win the whole thing along with the White Sox, Pirates, and Orioles.. The only teams to have worse odds are the Padres, A's, and Astros, who are 150/1. Now that...

Rockies Still Looking At Turner

The Colorado Rockies are still eyeing Mets infielder Justin Turner, says Troy Renck of the Denver Post. The Rockies have been discussing a deal for RedSox shortstop Marco Scutaro, but talks seemed to have stalled, and see Turner as a more attainable option than him. Last month, the Mets and Rockies were said to have been discussing a deal for Jon Niese involving 2B/OF Eric Young...

The Mets Are Moving In The Fences, And They're Selling Them Too

Because they can't lure you to the ballpark with a winning team, the Mets will try to lure you with home runs. If you're a billion dollars in debt, you sell them to fans.More »

Mets Interested In Cody Ross

The Mets are "making a run at signing" free agent outfielder Cody Ross, reports ESPN's Jerry Crasnick (Twitter link).  Ross would give the Mets depth at all three outfield positions, join ex-Giants teammate Andres Torres in a center field platoon or join Scott Hairston as right-handed complements to the left-handed hitting Lucas Duda in right field. The Braves...

Baseball. A Homecoming Honor

R.A. Dickey's baseball journey has led him all around the country from his time at Tennessee 16 years ago to his current spot in the starting pitching New York Mets' starting rotation of the New York Mets. His journey back to Knoxville to be inducted in the Tennessee Baseball Hall of Fame seemed like it took almost as long.
