Each day MTRphilly.com will be breaking down the players on the Philadelphia Phillies 40 man roster and their non roster invitees. Today we will discuss shortstop Jimmy Rollins.
Jimmy Rollins had an up and down year in 2012 where he hit only .250. He hit 23 homeruns, his most since 2007 when he hit 30 and continued to be a threat on the base paths stealing 30 bags. J-Roll continues to play Gold Glove defense and is still a guy that can change the game with the swing of a bat or a steal of a base.
Rollins is probably past his offensive prime and should probably be moved down in the lineup, but most experts that follow the Phillies expect Jimmy to be the opening day leadoff hitter.
