This is basically a one-line blog entry, but I'm so over all this Bradley drama. Nick Cafrado over at the Boston Globe is reporting that if Carlos Zambrano is moved, there are only three teams he'd be willing to go...Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. I would say, I don't know how the Angles wouldn't get on that list. If he's willing to to an AL team or Los Angeles, you couldn't find a classier organization than the Angels, so if the Cubs really pursue that course, I'm sure they'll get a few attentive general managers on the phone. As for Bradley, pardon my over-used metaphor, but it's a disaster of Hindenburg proportions both by the player and management. Good luck trying to move that $21M off the books Jim, unlike Zambrano, I don't think they'll be a lot of attentive gm's on the phone for that call. The only other parallel I can think of is Jose Guillen getting suspended by the Angels near the end o...

The Curious Case of Bobby Scales

For all the pecularities that have plagued the 2009 Cubs, this Bobby Scales starting in left field has to be the most perplexing. First, let's look at the numbers: Rk Date Opp Rslt Inngs PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Pos 27 Sep 5 NYM ...

Jim Edmonds – The Catch

So we're not gonna lie, with BSG being based outta LA, a Dodgers/Angles World Series has a nice ring to it.  So to help things along, this week we'll be taking a look at some classic moments in both teams' histories.  Today, we're leading off with the Jim Edmonds 1997 marvel known simply to Angels fans as, "The Catch."  Niners fans, take no offense, we...

Ryan Dempster: One of the Worst Free Agent Signings?

SI.com's Ted Keith recently outlined "the worst" free agent signings of the 2008 offseason, most of which were not surprising. Oliver Perez and Milton Bradley have been two of the biggest disappointments in baseball. Edgar Renteria and Pat Burrell have shown very little at the dish this season. But there was one name that I was shocked to see in the "worst"...

Series Preview: Cubs at Milwaukee

OverviewMilton Bradley is suspended, Alfonso Soriano is hurt, and Kevin Gregg is a deadman walking. The three scapegoats of the season all seem to be getting their just desserts. Unfortunately, we are the ones that have to eat the crapcake they baked for us over these last 15 games. Now we can sit here and eat it while trying to find something good to say about 2009, or we can start...

Feel Free To Hate Milton Bradley, But Get Mad At Jim Hendry, Too

The more I read and think about the Milton Bradley situation, the more I tend to agree with Baseball Prospectus’ paywalled Joe Sheehan: This mess is Jim Hendry’s fault, too. From Sheehan’s column: I expect Jim Hendry to know these things, but if Hendry were to admit that Bradley has played about as well and [...]

Cubs suspend Bradley for season after remarks

The Chicago Cubs have suspended volatile outfielder Milton Bradley for the rest of the season, one day after he criticized the team in a newspaper interview.

Milton Bradley Continues to Be a Ray of Sunshine In Chicago

For Chicago Cubs right fielder Milton Bradley, his first season in the Windy City playing for the Cubs has not been the best time of his life. After signing a three-year $30 million contract with the team over the winter Bradley has hit .257 with an OPS of .775, with 12 home runs and only 40 runs driven in.Not exactly the kind of production either he or the team were looking for.Of course,

Closing Time: Tom Gorzelanny tries out

It's all about auditions for Tom Gorzelanny(notes) these days. He's trying out for a 2010 spot on the Cubs, and his strong turn at Milwaukee Monday night could make him fantasy-viable later in the week. Gorzelanny was pressed into a spot start against the Brewers and came through nicely, working around two solo homers and striking out nine over five innings. Don't be...

Suspending Disbelief, And Milton Bradley Too

The Cubs suspended Milton Bradley on Sunday after he made what management considered intemperate remarks to the Daily Herald: When asked if he was disappointed in his own performance, he didn't want to answer that, either. "I'm not talking about that," he said. What do you think I did?" Bradley claimed to have no opinion on where he bats - "In the lineup...

Cubs Didn’t Look At Milton Bradley’s Intangibles; Lesson Learned

I haven’t really had a lot of nice things to say about the four-year deal the Mets gave Luis Castillo just before the start of the 2008 season. It turns out that he was injured or in pain for most of the season in the first year of that contract, but this year Castillo has [...]

Milton Bradley's Mother Must Be a Cardinals Fan

If someone polled Kris, Drew and me about our most favoritest players in baseball and then collated our selections to rank the players on one overall list, I doubt Milton Bradley would finish in the top ten. But there is perhaps no other athlete who best fits into the mission statement of Walkoff Walk. Milton Bradley is both talented and yet fails to live up to expectations; Milton...

MLB Notebok: Bradley suspended for rest of the season

The Chicago Cubs suspended volatile outfielder Milton Bradley for the rest of the season yesterday, one day after he criticized the team in a newspaper interview.

Milton man march

No matter what the players union can do for Milton Bradley, the outfielder's relationship with the Cubs was damaged beyond repair long before the team suspended him Sunday for the rest of the season.
