New York Mets
The Mets had a pretty successful opening weekend in Philadelphia, beating the Phillies in two out of three games. After nine games, all within the Eastern Division of the National League, the Mets find themselves at 6-3. Not too bad at all. So here are the 3 and 3 from this weekend.
It’s All About David: David Wright, broken finger and all, returned to the Met’s line up on Saturday. First pitch to him, over the fence for a homerun. That’s what leaders do. Make no mistake, this is David Wright’s team. So long as David stays healthy, the Mets will compete.
Jon Niese: New nose, new contract, and a near shutout in the bandbox called Citizens Bank Park. On Saturday Niese went 6 2/3 innings, scattering five hits and giving up no runs. Niese is on his way to becoming a front end of the rotation guy.
Bay & Ike: Jason Bay went yard in the first inning on Saturday, and Ike Davis turned the trick on Sunday. As much as David in the heart and soul of the team, he can’t do everything by...
BEST OF MAXIM
The New York Mets drew back into a tie for first place atop the NL East last night with a series-opening win against division rival Philadelphia. This afternoon at 4:05 in Citizens Bank Park Jonathon Niese, who mildly flirted with a no-hitter in his first start of the season against Atlanta, will try to lead the Mets to a series clinching victory against Vance Worley and the Phillies...
Photo By Michael BaronWhen I heard the news that David Wright could play as tolerable, to be honest I was relieved that it wasn't that serious and really didn't think much more about it. Then when Friday came around, after a day off, Wright was not in the line-up and talking about how his pinkie was too swollen to swing a bat or throw the ball, I began to think maybe they...
According to multiple sources, including ESPN, SNY and most importantly the Mets themselves, David Wright will play today and apparently avoid a trip to the disabled list due to his recently broken right pinky finger.
The Mets clinched a series win this afternoon in Philadelphia by shutting out the Phillies by a score of 5-0.
Jonathan Niese was on the hill today, and he pitched brilliantly, tossing 6.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5 Phillies.
David Wright returned from injury today, and hit the first pitch he saw to the deepest part of the...
David Wright took some nice swings in the batting cage today and afterward the Mets announced he would play today and be in today’s lineup, and batting third.

The MetsMerizedOnline Player of the Week for this week has shown he has a great impact on this team. This week also includes the opening series against the Atlanta Braves, for a total of 9 games played. Here is our MMO Player of the Week for 4/5/2012-4/15/2012:
Through the use of the scorecard, let’s take a look at how David Wright did this week:
Jonathon Niese and two relievers combined on a six-hitter, David Wright homered despite a broken finger and the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 on Saturday.
Niese (2-0) allowed five hits and struck out five in 6 2-3 innings. Bobby Parnell got four outs and Jon Rauch pitched the ninth.
Wright was 3 for 5, including a long homer on the first pitch he saw after missing...
David Wright was back in the New York Mets lineup after missing
three games with a broken right pinkie.
David Wright is off to a sensational start and played a big role in the New York Mets' season-opening three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves.
His fast start, however, could come to a halt with a trip to Atlanta.
Wright hopes to put an end to his struggles at Turner Field on Monday night when the Mets open a three-game set against a Braves team seeking its sixth straight win...
Behind two excellent starting pitching performances from RA Dickey and Jon Niese, the Mets took the first two games of the series by a combined score of 10 to 2. Today, they enter the 1:35 pm game looking for the sweep over the hated Phillies. If successful, it would be their second sweep in three series to start the season and would moved them to 7-2 on the year. The Mets...
Lucas Duda, David Wright and Ike Davis will (hopefully) provide the power for the Mets lineup in 2012
In an offseason to forget, the New York Mets slashed payroll, begged people to come to Citi Field, lost Gary Carter to cancer, lost their best player to a division rival in free agency and settled a massive lawsuit. Other than that, the Mets 2012 offseason was pretty boring.
The Vanimal allowed the Mets to score early today. Photo: APThe Metropolitans got to the Vanimal early, plating four runs in the first four innings on two home runs en route to blanking the Phils 5-0. David Wright hit a first inning bomb to straight away center on the first pitch he saw from Worley answering any questions about the health of his pinky. Lucas Duda added a two run...
0.90: The ERA of Mets' ace Johan Santana through two starts and ten innings pitched this season. Good for 5th in the National League over that time. 1: The number of stolen bases by the team through the first ten games this season. Tied for last in MLB with the Tampa Bay Rays.2: The number of strike outs by David Wright. To date he is striking out one out of every twelve...
