The 29-year-old righty became a free agent after refusing an assignment to the Mariners' Triple A team. He allowed 25 hits in 19 innings with the Mariners and walked about three times as many batters (17) as he struck out (6).The Mariners designated Corcoran for assignment late last month.

Some quick Mariners news for you regarding Chris Shelton, who has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Class AAA Tacoma. That leaves Shelton in a position to be called up by the Mariners in September.

The news on Erik Bedard was not good moments ago. He felt discomfort in his shoulder after yesterday's bullpen session and will now get a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Friday in Seattle.
The team should have the results later in the day.

The Mariners designated Chris Woodward for assignment today to make room for Adrian Beltre, according to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times. Some expected the Mariners to option Jack Hannahan to the minors, but they're keeping him around at Woodward's expense. Woodward, 33, hit .239/.288/.254 in 20 games for the Mariners at short, second and third.
