Scott Spiezio has been the punchline of a lot of jokes, many of them told by me. But I wish him well in his current endeavor, which is to overcome the drug and alcohol problems that derailed his career. The Los Angeles Times today ran a nice story detailing Spiezio's comeback, at age 36 with the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden Baseball League.

The body of a 22-year-old man was found Thursday morning on Braves’ third baseman Chipper Jones’ ranch in Texas.

Well, there’s bad news and there’s worse news. For starters, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Alexis Stevens reports the corpse of a 22-year old man was found yesterday on the premises of Chipper Jones’ family ranch in Carrizo Springs, TX. And it’s pretty frustrating there appears to be no way in which Chipper can be found liable.

Carrizo Springs, Texas -- A worker on Chipper Jones' Texas ranch found a body on the sprawling property Thursday morning in southwest Texas, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
It's believed the man died of dehydration and exposure after entering the country illegally and trying to cross the Jones ranch in extreme heat.
