 Ah yes, it is written. Maybe spelled a little wrong, but applying a little "Da Vinci Code" logic and the conclusion is: Carlos is the Closar. The answar. The easiest decision the Cubs have to make during the off-season. No longar does he appear bewildared. And as time goes on, he's getting bettar. In his last 8 appearances, Carlos has given up 5 hits, 2 runs, struck out 13, walked 6, and saved them all...but lost one. And I couldn't be happiar. Because I don't like feeling that 9th inning dangar. Okay, enough with me being the bad spellar. Lou Names 2010 Closer

According to Lou Piniella's comments before the game, Carlos Marmol will be the closer in 2010. "I see that, yes," Piniella said Monday. "I really do. I think he's done enough and shown enough. We have confidence in him enough going into spring training next year. It's his job. We'll leave it just at that." Short-term memory...

Carlos Marmol——————————->2010 Cubs closer

http://muskat.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/09/914_quick_hits.html “I think he’s done enough and shown enough and we have confidence in him enough that going into Spring Training next year, it’s his job and we’ll leave it at that,” Lou Piniella said Monday. I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, Marmol is my second favorite Carlos on the team (and...

Walks come back to haunt Marmol

Carlos Marmol seems destined to be the Cubs' full-time closer in 2010. But destiny still is toying with the right-hander. ''You can't keep walking people late in a game,'' said manager Lou Piniella, angry after Marmol (2-3) did just that in the ninth inning of the Cubs' 7-5 loss Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. ''It's going to catch up to you.''

Game Recap: Reds 7, Cubs 5 -- Carlos Marmol isn't the change we are looking for

(recap graphic to come later)Randy Wells joined today the increasingly full list of Cub starters who struggle to get out of the 4th inning, although the Cubs still almost managed to escape with a win.  Our heroes were down 5 runs when, in the middle innings they launched a Geovany Soto-led charge.  The Cubs catcher hit 2 RBI-scoring doubles in back-to-back innings, which...

GameCast: September 13th vs. Reds

Homer Bailey (5-4, 5.60 ERA) vs. Ted Lilly (11-8, 3.17 ERA) Story-linesThe Cubs blew a chance to gain a game on the Rockies last night, thanks in part to the erratic arm of Carlos Marmol.  I know that some people think he's capable of being the team's next closer, but his inability to regularly throw a strike makes that a bad idea.  Maybe Marmol is just erratic...
