Chicago Cubs Online:
According to a report from Bruce Levine, the Cubs are trying to lock-up John Grabow to a multi-year contract before the lefty reliever hits free agency. The Cubs and Grabow's agent, Paul Kinzer, are discussing a two-year deal worth between $6.5 million and $7.5 million ... that could include incentives based on games finished. Grabow would like a third-year vesting option added to the deal.

I'm not sure I'll get an offseason potential target up tomorrow, but with the World Series almost wrapping up and the Cubs organizational meetings next week, the rumor mill is beginning to warm up for the offseason. Let's blast through these real quick.- Bruce Levine reported that the Cubs and John Grabow are discussing a two year extension and the Trib concurs that...
Crystal Ballin'
I would expect the following to happen over the next few weeks:
1. NO LATER THAN THE 4TH BUSINESS DAY FOLLOWING CONCLUSION OF WORLD SERIES: Clubs must decide whether to add any of their Rule 55 minor league free-agents to the 40-man roster.
Probably the only Cubs candidate is RF Brad Snyder, who could be another Garrett Jones or Casey McGehee (an apparent "...
It appears as though the Cubs haven't learned a damn thing.
Our friends at MLBTR are all over this John Grabow story. Apparently the Cubs want to extend
the guy's time with the Cubs via a two-year deal worth $6 or 8 million.
The
31-year old Grabow came over from the Pirates in the Tom Gorzelanny
trade late this past season. And when he pitched, he was mostly, like,
kinda OK.
The ERA was fine, I guess, at 3.36 over the course of...
A Little News ... and A Few Cubs' Rumors
The Cubs' organizational meetings are in full swing in Mesa. Tom Ricketts reportedly addressed his baseball staff for the first time and will meet with Mesa officials on Wednesday to discuss possible sites for the Cubs new facilities.

Cubs Potential Offseason Targets: Mike Cameron
I'll go through a few more lower level free agents this week and pick it up to some possible bigger names next week. As we know, there's talk that if the Cubs can move Milton Bradley, they'd put Kosuke Fukudome back to right field and try and improve the outfield defense with a more true center fielder. And that's where Mike Cameron comes in...

Cubs Group Has First Prominent Gay Owner; Still, Not Entirely Pro-Gay
America is learning so much about gay people this week. There was this Census release detailing how gay couples are remarkably similar to straight couples in terms of age and income, and that a third of gay couples are raising children.
Also, and more relevant to our purposes: that gay people can be part of an ownership group of one of the most recognizable franchises in all of...
Ricketts on NPR
New Cubs owner Tom Ricketts did an appearance on NPR on Saturday morning (here's the related article). This is great news for Cub fans who are hungry to learn about what his plans are, but it's terrible news for people who were hoping for an exciting interview. (NPR, I love ya, but you're a little too serious for my tastes.)
Ricketts apparently has...

Cubs Rumors: Hendry, Bradley, Iwamura
Cubs GM Jim Hendry told Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune that he doesn't feel like he's "on the clock" this year, even though new owners are taking over and the Cubs are coming off a disappointing year.
