Pitching probables vs. Houston
Although no official announcement has been made, Oliver Perez will likely start Sunday in Houston.
Mets manger Jerry Manuel said he will meet with John Maine in Houston on Friday before making a final decision on the rotation. "If there's any indication that he's not quite what he should be, we have the flexibility to back him off," Manuel said Wednesday afternoon on WFAN.

Im not going to say poor Santana mostly because hes making about 20 mil+ a year. However I do feel kinda sorry for him due to the fact that if the mets didnt blow leads for him he would be mentioned for the CY Young award. Castillo plays in live game
Mets second baseman Luis Castillo played in his first live game in almost a month. Playing for the Golf Coast League Mets Friday night, Castillo went 0-for-2 with a walk.
Maine will pitch today
John Maine will pitch today — in the bullpen. Maine did play catch prior to Friday's game but, otherwise, he has not picked up a baseball since being relieved in the fifth inning of Monday's game in Florida.
Fernando Tatis shifted to regular right fielder
According to Bart Hubbuch in the New York Post, Fernando Tatis will now be the Mets starting right fielder. Manuel will use the tandem of rookies Nick Evans and Daniel Murphy as the left fielders.

Mets fall short with bases loaded
In Saturday's loss to the Astros, Houston was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and had three RBIs and three runs scored. The Astros loaded the bases in both the ninth and 10th innings and delivered both times.
