Although no official announcement has been made, Oliver Perez will likely start Sunday in Houston.
Mets manger Jerry Manuel said he will meet with John Maine in Houston on Friday before making a final decision on the rotation. "If there's any indication that he's not quite what he should be, we have the flexibility to back him off," Manuel said Wednesday afternoon on WFAN.

Im not going to say poor Santana mostly because hes making about 20 mil+ a year. However I do feel kinda sorry for him due to the fact that if the mets didnt blow leads for him he would be mentioned for the CY Young award. Santana could have been the first Met since Dwight Doc Gooden who did it in 1985. Hopefully the mets have some good arms in the minors that they will use once...

Mets second baseman Luis Castillo played in his first live game in almost a month. Playing for the Golf Coast League Mets Friday night, Castillo went 0-for-2 with a walk.

John Maine will pitch today — in the bullpen. Maine did play catch prior to Friday's game but, otherwise, he has not picked up a baseball since being relieved in the fifth inning of Monday's game in Florida.
