It appears that Elmer Dessens will be returning to the Mets bullpen to replace Jon Niese on the roster. Initially I thought Dessens would be the smart move if we were a contender but as things have turned out, I'd rather see one of the younger pitchers get a chance ( Bostick/Kunz).However, Dessens needs just 10 major league days to earn his pension and for a journeyman like him, I'm sure that pension is as important as any of ours. After giving us most of a year in the minors, I can live with helping him get his pension...Elmer Dessens is expected to be promoted to replace injured Jon Niese when the Mets open a four-game series in San Diego on Thursday, an organization insider indicated.
