Chad Billingsley (12-9, 3.86) vs. Billy Buckner (2-6, 8.29).
COMMENTS: When Billingsley last pitched on Wednesday vs. the Diamondbacks, he went through four scoreless innings before giving up four runs in the fifth inning, which stuck him with the loss when the Dodgers' offense could only muster one run in "support". Joe Torre was nonplussed, however, telling the press afterwards that he wasn't worried because he thought Billingsley had improved mechanics.
Despite Torre's explanation, Billingsley's third straight loss and tenth straight start in which he didn't make it to the seventh inning was enough to get all the local colmunists frothing at the mouth again about how ace-less the Dodgers are. The team could easily give those pundits a much-needed tune-up by firing up their offensive engines and taking Buckner for a spin, letting Bills focus on firing all of his pistons and maintaining top speed.
And that's about all the automobile references I've got, since I don't know c...

Chad Billingsley: A Case Of Confirmation Bias
Chad Billingsley's recent struggles have been well documented, so further addressing the issue is somewhat pointless to me. However, one criticism that hasn't been looked at nearly enough is the charge that Billingsley is not mentally tough.Personally, i'm a firm believer that the concern over the mental toughness of Billingsley is pure fabrication that stems largely from confirmation...
And Chad Billingsley Shall Inherit The Earth
No matter what happens today, the result will not reflect on Chad Billingsley's personality, just his skills. Hopefully those skills take a strong upswing to the levels they were at in the first half of this year.TITS GT

Concern Over Randy Wolf And Chad Billingsley
An injury to Randy Wolf? It's the last thing the Dodgers need.Randy Wolf, who is tied for the Major League lead with 30 starts, has been scratched from his scheduled start Friday night in San Francisco because of stiffness in the back of his left elbow. But during a bullpen session before Tuesday night's game in Arizona, Wolf felt stiffness and tried to compensate by changing his...

Bullpen blows Buckner’s beauty
Forgive the alliterative, and admittedly dirty-sounding headline. I couldn’t resist.
The Los Angeles Dodgers pushed across 4 runs in the 8th inning, rallying against the Arizona bullpen for a 5-4 victory. The loss was the Diamondbacks’ 6th in a row.

Sudden Impact: Dodgers Awaken Just in Time
It took them eight innings, but the Dodgers finally woke up. After scoring only one run for the first seven innings, the Boys in Blue erupted for four runs in the eighth to take a 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. It took a while to mount a comeback, as Billy Buckner held LA in check for [...]
The Eighth Is Enough: Dodgers 5, Diamondbacks 4
I flipped once or twice between this and the Angels game — c'mon, FiOS, get me a working picture-in-picture — and apparently I missed a heckuva ballgame, with the Dodgers pulling out the win in the eighth innning using a long two-out rally, depriving Billy Buckner of his third win for the year and making a loser of Daniel Schlereth. Schlereth faced Andre Ethier with the bags...
Los Angeles Dodgers: Did Eighth-Inning Rally Light Championship Fire?
Last night, the Los Angeles offense finally contributed some late-inning success at the plate that sprung the Boys in Blue to a 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. For a club that went a Major League-best 56-32 in the first half of the season, the rally was a return to business as usual for manager Joe Torre and exactly what Dodger fans have been waiting to see for months. The Dodgers...
