After losing dinger, Beltran wants instant replay

Carlos Beltran of the New York Mets already wanted instant replay in baseball. Now, he's adamant. New York Mets 2009 Rundown: Carlos Beltran

In January 2005, not too long after they acquired Pedro Martinez, the New York Mets signed Carlos Beltran to a seven-year, 119 million-dollar contract. Now entering the fifth year of that contract, Beltran, for some reason, still finds himself having to prove his worth. In 596 career games with the Mets (since 2005), Beltran has a .275 BA with 145 2B, 117 HR, 418 RBIs, and 83 SB.He...

Mentality Of A Met Fan

This is an article of the Met fan mentality since the 2008 collapse until today, myself included.

Cocaine is a Powerful Drug

While most people remember Gooden as a pitcher, when times got tough and Doc needed a quick score, certain pushers in Harlem (and certain Topps photographers) insisted he turn around and be a catcher.

Mets Will Have a Dominating Bullpen

Jeremy Gonzalez could make things happen for the New York Mets this week in his debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Tribe Report takes on the Detroit Tigers: An interview from the A.L. battle field

The Detroit Tigers were the superstars of the offseason. In late October, the Tigers began their makeover by dealing away Jair Jurrjens (who seemed to snack on the Indians last year) to the Atlanta Braves, for shortstop Edgar Renteria. Renteria would take over the shortstop position formerly held by ...

Myers tabbed to start Opening Day

Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel announced Tuesday night that Brett Myers will make his third straight Opening Day start this Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. “The fact that we gave him the ball the last two years, the way he pitched here, it was a logical choice,” Manuel said. Phillies’ ace Cole Hamels is slated to start the [...]

Red Sox News & Notes - 3/11

Today the New York Mets head to City of Palms Park to take on the Boston Red Sox as the two teams hope to have a little more offense than what was shown in yesterday’s 1-1 tie game. You really can’t fault the offenses though because the pitching for the most part was outstanding. Tim Wak...

every day i'm hustling

My favorite ballpark souvenir is a program. Whenever someone I know goes to a non-local ballgame, I ask very nicely if they can get me a program. So when a co-worker was headed for Atlanta, guess what I asked for? YES. And the Atlanta Braves program might be the best one I've ever gotten. Thick and g...

The Curse Of SI... What Curse?

Despite the title, I'm not one who believes in jinxes and curses hence the question mark. Instead, I find myself exceedingly glad that Sports Illustrated has picked the New York Mets to win the 2009 World Series, beating the Los Angeles Angels. Of course, the fine folks at SI aren't telling me something I didn't already know and believe in my heart of hearts. However...
