Cubs Get Some Bullpen Help

From the Sun-Times:During the Cubs' 6-1 homestand, the 3-4-5-6 heart of the order of Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Milton Bradley and Soriano hit .400 (38 for 95) with 11 homers and 30 RBIs.The Cubs averaged 7.6 runs a game during the stand.Crappy Cincinnati and Houston pitching? Maybe. But you still have to hit the ball. It's good to see the word "crappy" slipped into a news story.

Looking Ahead at Cubs and Cardinals Schedules

I had been kind of curious when the Cubs would ever make up those 5 games on the Cardinals, considering the Cubs are still up in the loss column, yet a half game behind. And I figured if I'm curious, someone else out there is as well. So mark the dates on your calendar, if the Cubs can win all 5, they'll pick up 2.5 games on the Cardinals. August 3rd - Cubs @ Cincinnati...

Cubs in good shape for stretch run

Hardball: The trade deadline has passed without another deal being made by the Cubs, who made their splash on Thursday with the five-player trade centering around John Grabow and Kevin Hart. But the way they've played in July, the Cubs may not need as much help as previously believed.
