Ghosts of Wayne Fontes:
In case you hadn't noticed, ever since Carlos Zambrano popped Michael Barrett in the face and Lou Pinella threw a temper tantrum on an umpire who did make the correct call, the Cubs have started to play a little bit better. And at the very least it's woken up what was once a team sleeping through another season of mediocrity. Did this all happen for a reason?

Yeah, and the Yanks will no jump to 1st with the Rocket. Sorry, both just got hot, that will soon dwindle.

Pitching will always decide your final record, but it just seems that now the bats for the Cubs, Yanks, and Phillies are waking up they will die down again I'm sure.....

Should it surprise anyone that Lou and his team's are at their best when he's acting like a baby?

The Three Little Bears
Recently the Chicago Cubs have been doing much more to spark positive conversation. They have won 6 of their last 9 which isn't incredibly good but at least they are sticking around in the NL Central. With the Brewers losing 19 of their last 29 it seems that Chicago still has a very good chance to take over the division and possibly win it outright at the end of the season....
Cubs players want Mark Cuban to buy the Cubs
Man Pinella and Cuban, get a few drinks in them and then watch out. I can see it know Cuban running out onto the field to dispute balls and strikes. Seems like a match made in heaven.
Rex or Carlos?
Who would you rather be? Rex Grossman or Carlos Zambrano? Rex is a mediocre quarterback on a team that should win its division and make a splash in the playoffs again but no one has any respect for him. Carlos is the ace on a mediocre baseball team that may crawl back into a divisional championship this year. Maybe. Choose wisely.
VIDEO: More Memorable Baseball Meltdowns - Lee Elia & Tommy Lasorda
Last week, I posted a rather lengthy dissertation on 20 of the most epic meltdowns in sports history. Well, if that post was the equivalent to 'Cheers', get ready for the spin-off 'Frasier' post soon of epic Bob Knight blowups.
But in the meantime, here's some additional follow up to last week's meltdown post: an audio clip of ex-Dodgers' managerTommy...
Who is Mike Fontenot of the Chicago Cubs
He's a former #1 Draft Pick of the Baltimore Orioles. He was traded for Sammy Sosa. But you've probably never heard of him. His name is Mike Fontenot, the arriving second baseman of the Chicago Cubs. There more to him then meets the eye. A great story, for this LSU product.
Apparently A Good Cry Can Be Therapeutic
First, Carlos Zambrano took a swing at his catcher, Michael Barrett. Then he and Barrett shared a loving moment and a good cry. Then he came out yesterday and dominated the Houston Astros in a 2-1 Cubs win. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Carlos has "emotional issues."
