You have to wonder about Jerry's bullpen acumen, using the same clowns over and over and over again. Or maybe you have to wonder if Omar is on ******* holiday. Maybe you can excuse his hands being tied by their own rubbish farm system in executing a trade for a decent bat or two to take some of the heat off of Wright and Beltran but this slow to the take sort of movement on hitters and pitchers is starting to make the Mets bleed more and more games. The bullpen sucks, they need help. How much more bloody obvious does it have to be?For about five minutes yesterday, the Mets could be happy. The rest of the time, a miserable foreshadowing to what remains a miserable season.Stokes came in for only an inning and then, after Scheider's happily unexpected three-run homer gave the Mets a slim one run lead, Jerry calls on Bobby Parnell to hold the lead in the 7th. Bobby Parnell has been crap lately, can't get any body out. So why is he out there trying to hold a one run lea...

According to David Lennon of Newsday, Carlos Beltran is hurting again from the bone bruise below his right knee and he plans to get an MRI soon to find out the extent of the damage. “I just want to make sure it’s not going to get worse,” Beltran told Newsday this afternoon. “If it can get [...]

Mets Adopt the Junkyard Dog’s Theme Song as their Own

The Mets beat St. Louis 6-4 last night, but enough of that happy talk. This is the Mets so of course we have much more ominous news to unravel as another star bit the dust in Flushing. Carlos Beltran was the latest, and in my mind the most irreplaceable, player to join the MASH Unit that is the New [...]

Mets Roster Mismanagement: A 30 Chapter Novel by Milo Taibi

Today Mets fans received some not so great news. Carlos Beltran, after going public with his injury on Sunday, will be heading to the 15 day DL. The Mets also DFA’d power bat Wilson Valdez, optioned Ken Takahashi to Triple A Buffalo, and recalled Elmer Dessens and Pat Misch from the minors. These items are [...]

Carlos Beltran: I am Worried About MRI

Carlos Beltran on tomorrow’s exam/MRI: “I’m a little bit worried to be honest because the way I felt today – it was painful.” More from Howard and I on tonight’s show at 9:30 PM var a = Math.floor(Math.random()*9999999999+1) var random_number [...]

Beltran on DL, maybe until All-Star break

Carlos Beltran was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, an enormous blow to a struggling New York Mets team ravaged by key injuries.

Carlos Beltran is the latest to hit the disabled list for New York Mets

NEW YORK - Carlos Beltran had an idea on Sunday that the bone bruise causing him pain in his right knee might not be something he could play through. He went to trainer Ray Ramirez and told him he really...

Exploring The Lack of Trade Options For The Mets

With Carlos Beltran headed for an MRI tomorrow and still no sign of Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado and Oliver Perez I think now is an appropriate time to discuss trading for someone who could provide some steady offense, especially if Beltran hits the DL. The problem for the Mets is they have very few trade chips to work with. Their top organizational prospect, Fernando Martinez was...

AILING METS PLAY CARDS RIGHT

Jerry Manuel's charges answered his call. Moments after Carlos Beltran became the ninth player to join the Mets' phone-book sized disabled list yesterday afternoon, Manuel said it was time for those left behind to "step up to another level."...

Mets Left With Little More Than Optimism

by Ed PriceFiled under: Mets, MLB InjuriesNEW YORK - Now batting cleanup for the Mets: faith. Hitting fifth: hope. But how many runs can they drive in?"You have to believe that somebody is going to catch fire and hopefully pick up some slack," Mets manager Jerry Manuel said Monday after the team placed center fielder Carlos Beltran on the disabled list."There is no...

Mr Softie? I Think Not

During the early part of my radio show’s existence the recurring debate about the Mets was the toughness of the ball club. Inevitably Carlos Beltran would come up and many fans would cite him as the poster boy for the team’s soft persona. How do those same fans feel today after it was revealed that [...]

Alyssa Milano: Hypocrite, Traitor

Alyssa Milano is one of baseball’s greatest ambassadors.  Which makes her offensive recent blog post about her All-Star ballot all the more disappointing. Ms. Milano is baseball’s unofficial hottest female fan/business partner (she’s a Dodgers season ticket holder and has a line of MLB women’s clothing). She occasionally chimes in with her opinions on an...
