TEAMS: New York Mets

• Lefthander Willie Collazo also has been designated for assignment to make roster room.

• Pedro Martinez will spend the Milwaukee series in New York working out with his trainer Chris Correnti.

• Jerry Manuel said he'd try to find a spot to use Bobby Parnell in relief, but it will be hard for Parnell to work his way up the pecking order in the bullpen in the four weeks left. Brian Stokes already has passed the pink backpack onto Parnell.

• Ramon Martinez's promotion was designed to have a legitimate backup shortstop to spell Jose Reyes in lopsided games.
