The Phillies have signed second baseman Tadahito Iguchi for the remainder of the season, in hopes his depth of the bench will help get the Phillies into the playoffs. Iguchi did very well for NL East teams this season, hitting .389, so his signing makes sense.
Iguchi is probably a back up second baseman in the future, unless he can improve at third or first base for 2009.
