DODGERS 7, DIAMONDBACKS 2
Not that this is all about me, but didn't I tell you the Dodgers would get seven runs today? Inspired by my bold prediction, Manny Ramirez and James Loney hit back-to-back jacks in the second to rattle Max Scherzer, and we never looked back from the three-run frame. Vicente Padilla gets the win, which looked even more secure with three runs in the eighth and ninth frames, and the Dodgers kept pace ahead of the winning Rockies and Giants.
I will try and write more later, but right now, I'm riding my clairvoyant high.

Energy Boost: Offensive Push Helps Dodgers
It didn’t take too long for the Dodgers to come to life in their 7-2 win over Arizona. The Boys in Blue scored three runs in the second inning, and that was all they needed to dispatch the Diamondbacks. Three home runs helped the cause, with Manny Ramirez and James Loney smacking back-to-back homers in [...]
Peter Gammons Locates The NL West
Credit Peter Gammons for breaking through ESPN protocols and writing a nice piece on the NL West, which he points out is 24 games over .500 in games played outside its division. He also had nice things to say about the Dodgers' core, notably its outfield of Manny Ramirez (about whom you can still taste a lingering bitterness from Gammons, a Red Sox diehard), Andre Ethier, and...
Dodgers' Ramirez ejected after striking out
Los Angeles Dodgers star Manny Ramirez hit an early home run, then was ejected his next time up when he slung his bat and helmet after striking out Monday against Arizona.

Manny homers before ejection as Dodgers win
Manny Ramirez hit his 17th home run of the season before being ejected and Los Angeles late-season acquisitions Vicente Padilla and Ronnie Belliard contributed to the Dodgers' 7-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Manny homers and gets tossed in victory; Belliard contributes
PHOENIX — Manny Ramirez showed off a faux trophy ball in the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse Monday, then signed it.

DODGERS 5, DIAMONDBACKS 4
This game did not look promising whatsoever. Second inning, Russell Martin GIDP. Third inning, Rafael Furcal GIDP. Fourth inning, James Loney GIDP. Sixth inning, Matt Kemp GIDP. Seventh inning, Ronnie Belliard GIDP. Seven innings, five GIDPs. It was like everyone wanted to get his own dose of GIDP goodness.
Meanwhile, Chad Billingsley lasted his...

Beat The Stat Geek!
I still think he's a cyborg of some sort.TITS GTAnyway, as many of you know, tonight's opposing pitcher Max Scherzer has some of the best raw stuff in the major leagues. As many of you may not know, he's also somewhat of a stat geek.Personally, I think it's inevitable that this kind of stuff becomes more frequent as the next generation comes up. Using all possible...
The Eighth Is Enough: Dodgers 5, Diamondbacks 4
I flipped once or twice between this and the Angels game — c'mon, FiOS, get me a working picture-in-picture — and apparently I missed a heckuva ballgame, with the Dodgers pulling out the win in the eighth innning using a long two-out rally, depriving Billy Buckner of his third win for the year and making a loser of Daniel Schlereth. Schlereth faced Andre Ethier with...
Nobody Loves the Playoff-Bound Dodgers
Over the weekend, a couple of similarly-themed articles about the Dodgers' starters caught my eye. The first was from the LA Times' Kurt Streeter, who channeled Vic the Brick in saying he doesn't have a good feeling about the Dodgers:
Right now, this team has no identity. Are they bashers? Not when the post-purgatory, post-prescription Manny Ramirez is looking every...
Game 139 Thread: Sept 7 vs. Rattlers, 12:40p
Vicente Padilla (9-6, 4.72) vs. Max Scherzer (9-8, 4.10).
COMMENTS: So much for the soft part of the schedule. While the Rockies are beating the teams they're supposed to beat, the Dodgers are alternating wins and losses like a three-card Monte dealer on meth. What was supposed to be a September cakewalk has turned into the pie-eating contest scene from Stand by Me. Although...
