Willie Randolph Axed After Win
Willie Randolph has been fired as manager and replaced by bench coach Jerry Manuel. This news coming around 3:15 EST, not long after the team had defeated the LA Angels 9-6. The news isn't that surprising, especially since Omar Minaya has essentially been saying it was going to happen for the past week. Happy trails, Willie. I'm sure you'll get a new job managing another...

The Mets fan base doesn't know what to do with itself. Neither it seems, do my colleagues in the media. The same people that have been calling for Willie Randolph's head since the end of last season, seem to have softened the last week because Randolph showed a sense of humor – for the first time in four years -- about his inevitable situation.

I am not embarrassed or ashamed to be a Mets fan
I am not embarrassed to be a Mets fan, as many people are. This is business as usual. The team obviously wasn't winning enough with Willie Randolph at helm, and though it may have been put into action poorly, it's simply business as usual.

Can things get worse for the New York Mets? Not only is their managers job in limbo, their own fans have started to chant for an opposing team. Well I guess they can say they were chanting for the New York Rangers! Slip n' Slide is always fun, and it probably is even better when you can do it on a large tarp on a baseball field.
