Ollie being Ollie...
Oliver Perez pitched in a rehab game for AAA Buffalo and he was his inconsistent self. The Mets have 30 days from his first rehab start to call him up and the question is really becoming, what to do with the erratic lefty.I'm not sure what was Omar's bigger mistake but I know he made two huge ones this off-season, re-signing Ollie and not signing a left fielder. Adam Rubin...

First place or bust!
Let's get a little giddy for the giddy-up the Mets showed after falling behind 5-0, shedding Tim Redding, shredding almost their entire roster and blowing a ninth-inning lead that seemed fated to be converted into the regulation loss to end all regulation losses. It was a Wes Westrum...
Tim Redding has a short night against the Pirates
Tim Redding, in what may have been his ninth and final start before going to the bullpen, had his shortest outing since going the same 2-1/3 innings on Sept. 5, 2007, with Washington against Florida.

Buffalo 2, Rochester 6
Oliver Perez had a very mediocre rehab outing today, throwing 50% strikes and giving up 4 walks in 5 innings. Not numbers you want to see if you were hoping for Tiny Tim to be getting the boot. May I interest you in some Jonathan Joesph Niese?

Perez is set to pitch vs. L.A. on Wednesday at Citi Field
Oliver Perez answered any lingering questions about his health Friday night in a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo. Doubts about his ability to throw strikes remain. Yet the Mets still plan to activate Perez from the DL for Wednesday's against L.A.
There's Some Grit In Them Furry Beasts
As if going to Pittsburgh for a one game rainout makeup isn't exciting enough, the Mets were also able to catch the phenomenon known as Anthrocon 2009, a convention where people can dress like animals. Boy, it was the club's lucky day ... let alone Kevin Burkhardt's lucky day. This has to be the reason that Tim Redding has such an awful start today ... apparently, Redding's goatee...
A REDD-ICULOUSLY BAD START

If You Think This Is Bad, Just Wait 'Til Ollie Arrives
"Well, you know Ollie," manager Jerry Manuel said. "Ollie is not a command guy, so to speak. He is a guy that has control, but not necessarily command."We interrupt a second consecutive humiliating loss to the Phillies to bring you the exciting news that one loser (Tim Redding) is going to be replaced in the starting rotation by one of the more epic losers in...
OLLIE LEAVES MINAYA SCRATCHING HIS HEAD

OLLIE BACK IN STARTING ROTATION
