Ryan Howard is pissing me off. He's considered a slugging firstbaseman; I consider him to be more slug-like, and I'm not just referring to his lack of speed. The Phillies lost to the Diamondbacks 6-4 tonight thanks to a bad pitching performance by Adam Eaton. Eaton gave up six runs in four innings, but no run was worse than the one he gave up when he walked Randy Johnson on four straight pitches with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. Johnson's lifetime batting average: .167.

For a team that was supposed to be terrible this season, the San Francisco Giants proved to be tough to beat for the Phillies. Max Scherzer of the Arizona Diamondbacks was two years old when Jamie Moyer made his major league debut back in 1986. Scherzer made his first career start tonight and Moyer, with his 21 years of experience, schooled the rookie, leading the Phillies to a 11-4 win over the D-backs.
