Game Seventy-Seven: Cubs (38-38) vs. Brewers (42-37) Game Time - 1:20pm C.T. Coverage - TV: Comcast SportsNet - Radio: 720 WGN, XM Radio Channel 183 Location - Wrigley Field, Chicago Carlos Zambrano (4-3, 3.69/1.33) vs. Jeff Suppan (5-6, 4.86/1.66) Will Soriano or Fuld hit leadoff for the Chicago Cubs this afternoon? Lou Piniella said Alfonso Soriano would be back in the leadoff spot before Thursday night's game but sounded less sure following another solid performance from Sam Fuld. The Cubs must have a healthy Alfonso Soriano in order to win on a regular basis in the second half. With Soriano not producing it might be better for him to hit lower in the order for a while and ride out the spark that Fuld has given the team. This afternoon might be a good time to slide Fuld over to center and put Kosuke Fukudome in right. Milton Bradley is not hitting from the left side and is just 1-for-10 lifetime against Jeff Suppan. Right now it is all about winning ballgames ... ...

Z Pays You No Mind

Carlos Zambrano doesn't much care what you think: PITTSBURGH -- Carlos Zambrano had some fun with an unscientific Tribune fan poll in which 57.2 percent of respondents said he should be moved, as Phil Rogers suggested in a column Monday. "Fine, trade me to Boston," Zambrano said. Last weekend Zambrano said he would play for only two other teams than the Cubs -- Boston...

Long, Hard Object Used on Scott Boras' Car

Scott Boras' Land Rover sustained 2k worth of damage by an 'unknown hard, long object' while parked at 3201 East Coast Highway Monday. Carlos Zambrano is not considered a suspect at this time. Also... Full story: http://www.bobsblitz.com

Cubs can only wait for Soriano to shake slump

It's times like these you can't live with Alfonso Soriano. But the Cubs can't live without him, either.

Cubs' Harden lasts just 2 innings, Brewers win 11-2

Despite a revamped lineup with Alfonso Soriano batting sixth, the Cubs' offense struggled for runs in Saturday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers in front of 40,088 holiday fans at Wrigley Field.

CUBS IN BRIEF: Zambrano gets tricky, still can't nail down 'W'

Carlos Zambrano, with four no-decisions in his last five starts, hasn't pitched a winner since June5. Run support has been a problem in some games; it was Zambrano, after all, who drove in the Cubs' only run Friday before Jake Fox's bases-loaded walk resulted in a 10-inning victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Soriano to go someplace else

Alfonso Soriano's time in the leadoff spot is ending, at least for now.

The Cubs Can’t Even Score More Than 1 Against Jeff Suppan

Simply out of order

Time will tell if the lineup changes Cubs manager Lou Piniella made Saturday -- and the roster changes coming in the next two days -- will have a positive impact. ''You have to give it more than one day to see how things work out,'' Piniella said of dropping Alfonso Soriano from the leadoff spot -- a move that was immaterial in the Milwaukee Brewers' 11-2 pounding...

A walk-off defeat

Jeff Suppan pitched one of his best games of the season, holding the Cubs to one run through seven innings, but the offense failed to come through and the Brewers lost their third consecutive game on a bases loaded walk in the 10th inning.

Career night for D-Lee as Cubs blitz Brewers 9-5

Benched leadoff hitter Alfonso Soriano had the best seat in the house for Derrek Lee's monster game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night as Lee drove in a career-high seven runs with a grand slam and three-run homer in the Cubs' 9-5 victory at Wrigley Field. Lee's night was a career first. And so was Soriano's.

Full count: Night and day

Jeff Suppan has been a much more effective pitcher on the road this season:

Cubs 2-1 Brewers: Macha Yosts Away the Game

Overall, not a great game. The offense failed to solve the riddle of Jeff Suppan, and there was some shambolic defense by Fox and Bradley. Zambrano pitched well enough, registering a quality start in going 7 innings, and allowing just 1 run on 5 hits while walking 3 and K’ing 3. He also drove in the first Cub run. I wonder if Phil Rogers even noticed. Fontenot had 2 hits...
