Ask a Mets what went wrong with their team last year and 99% will tell you the bullpen. The other 1% just weren't paying attention. The Mets bullpen era after the break last season hovered around 5.89. That is the worst bullpen era in Mets history. So the perception of the average Mets fan was spot on. However, what most of us forget is how much the bullpen was ballyhooed before the season began. We had Sanchez, Heilman and Wagner. On paper this is one of the best pens in baseball. But as we all know, things don't always work out as planned. Wagner went down, Heilman imploded and Sanchez was decent, just not his normal self. Omar spent most of our budget this offseason addressing the bullpen, let's look at what he accomplished. There's no denying that K-Rod and Putz are a clear upgrade over Wagner and Heilman.
