According to the New York Daily News, the Mets were the victim of an internet-organized prank. When asked to vote for the new 8th Inning song at Shea Stadium, "fans" apparently voted for the ubiquitous "Never Gonna Give You Up" by white chocolate himself, Rick Astley.

So, a couple of creative New York Met fans got over 5 MILLION, yes, I said MILLION people to vote for Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" as the official 8th inning sing-a-long for every home game.
Sadly, a few Mets representatives know the whole story, and know the majority of those 5 million votes did not come from Met fans. However, they haven't nixed...

Well after 3 losses, the Mets finally mustered a win. I'm glad Mike Pelfrey got the W today, even though it was far from ace-like. I'll take a stopper in any way, shape, or form. In all seriousness though, I want Pelf to do well. I want him to seize his opportunities and show some guts. So hats off to him. Pelfrey seems like the obvious XOXO winner, but not today. ...

The New York Mets look like they may have begun to address the injury problems that are already striking their starting rotation. The team is on the verge of signing free-agent Claudio Vargas to a AAA minor league deal.
