Two days after we suggested a rather drastic measure to improve the Met bullpen, the relief corp went out last night and demonstrated the sort of desperate times that may lie ahead for the Mets.
Meanwhile, a day after getting shelled, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez admitted yesterday that his ailing foot continues to be sore. And while the team's medical staff is apparently confident that the pain is normal, the injury must once again call the ageless veteran's durability into question. Moreover, it appears El Duque's stamina has become an issue as well, as the pitcher has been unable to perform his usual running regiment while resting his injured foot. Hernandez stated that he felt fatigued after the second inning of Tuesday's debacle.
Gee, I wonder where the Mets could use a 1-to-2 innings pitcher? Just saying
