Found September 02, 2008 on Another Cubs Blog:
PLAYERS: Bob Howry
TEAMS: Chicago Cubs

I'm out of town and was only able to watch part of one inning up to this point and it just happened to be the 6th inning. Bob Howry's inning. In fact, I was only able to watch 5 batter and all 5 reached base. His ERA is now above 5.5. He hasn't been any good for a very long time. Why is Lou giving this man innings when there are other alternatives? It makes no sense. All I know is that this can't continue if the Cubs want to have any success whether it's later this month or more importantly next month. Get rid of him right now.

  • I thinh Howry should have been cut instead of Eyre! Howery, as a Cub has really done nothing the pst few years. He comes in with a lead or a tie and it is almost automatic he will give up a homeun.
I will be so dissapointed if he makes the 2008 playoff roster

Cubs Playoff Ticket Lottery

The Cubs opened up registration for playoff tickets at Wrigley Field today. Basically you register online and winners are "randomly" selected to be able to purchase tickets for either the NLDS and NLCS (you may get lucky and win both). If you're chosen, you are limited to one game and two tickets for that series. You have until noon CST on September 19th to register...

Welcome to the Bigs, Part I (of II?)

The Cubs have called up 4 guys to supplement the team, all from Iowa, added two guys from the D.L., and made a few other roster moves, all of which will be detailed here. This is the first of likely two groups coming to Chicago...the Cubs are expected to make another selection after the I-Cubs finish the playoffs, although Lou only wanted about 6 guys and 6 guys have been added....

Jim Edmonds Is A Magician

I've seen a lot of things in Baseball, but I can safely say that I've never seen this before. Watch closely as Jim Edmonds tries out his version of the hidden ball trick at Wrigley Field....That's pretty wild, but I was thinking it would have been even more awesome if it was someone's hand. How crazy would that have been? Jerome Walton's hand just falls on...

Helping The Cubs Pitching Staff Decipher Catcher Koyie Hill’s Pitch Signals

Sure, the return of Koyie Hill to professional baseball is a wonderful human interest story that I know has Bobby Ojeda all choked up and misty-eyed, but the Cubbies still have games to win and this late in the season maintaining team chemistry is of utmost importance. So I've put together this rudimentary guide below [...]

Not that big of a deal

As mentioned earlier, Carlos Zambrano has some kind of pain in his arm and will see a doctor today. We don't know for sure where the pain is and it's really not important to what I'm going to briefly say here anyway. First of all, losing Zambrano is without a doubt bad news, but more so for him than it is for the team. For the purpose of this piece I'm assuming...

Not Again…

So I haven't decided whether I should just stay cool about this funk the Cubs have gotten into, or to stab my own eyes out RIGHT NOW so I don't have to watch a historic and utterly heartbreaking collapse that will make me question how I have wasted my life waiting in vain for my team [...]

TIME TO QUIT FOOLING AROUND!

Although fatalism is pretty much coded into my DNA, I refuse to look at this silly little four-game losing streak (even though it's the longest skid since late June) as a sign of the annual Cubs apocalypse.?

Welcome to the Bigs, Part II (of ?)

Well, it wasn't exactly a big group of players heading to Chicago in the second "wave," rather just one. The combination of the short Zambrano outing, the extra inning game last night, and Harden and Z both having starts pushed back, the Cubs needed another arm in the 'pen. That arm was Kevin Hart. I predicted Hart would make the trip to Chicago, based in large...

TCR Tuesday Notes

Just a few things that have been lying in my "in" box...- Updating the August Player of the Month race, DeRosa and Ramirez didn't do much to help themselves this weekend. Ramirez did end up with the most RBI's in August, but his .975 OPS for the month is good for only 16th out of players with at least 50 PA's. DeRosa ended up 5th in OPS, 2nd in Runs Scored and...

Red Sox Interested In Burnett

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox are prepared to make a big push for free agent pitcher to be A.J. Burnett. Burnett is 16-10 with a 4.48 ERA in thirty games this season and is likely to opt out of his contract following this season. The Yankees have already said they were interested in Burnett, as will a hand full of other teams in the coming weeks.Burnett is likely looking...

Other crap they found in the Wrigley ivy

During the Cubs-Astros game last night, Houston's Hunter Pence hit a shot to deep center that forced the momentum of outfielder Jim Edmonds to carry him into the wall, causing a charmed ball to mysteriously pop out of the storied...

Magic Wall

I caught the Astros game last night versus the Cubs. One hit sent the ball into the ivy wall in the outfield, and somehow it knocked a second ball loose. I guess it had been caught in the ivy, just hanging out there for a while. Jim Edmonds' double-take was priceless, like, "What the...? Where did that one come from?"
