For 400k the Mets got more then most of us would have expected from Gary Sheffield, the 41 y/o slugger hit .279 with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs.But once the Mets fell out of contention, Sheffield, regardless of how much of a clubhouse leader he was to start the season, was a time bomb waiting to go off.
