For 400k the Mets got more then most of us would have expected from Gary Sheffield, the 41 y/o slugger hit .279 with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs.But once the Mets fell out of contention, Sheffield, regardless of how much of a clubhouse leader he was to start the season, was a time bomb waiting to go off. Omar's mistake with Sheffield wasn't with how he handle the Giants situation but more that he didn't move Sheff before the deadline when he had a chance of possibly getting something...
