PLAYERS: Tim Redding
TEAMS: New York Mets

There is no doubt that Tim Redding has been a disappointment this year, I admit, at the time I liked the signing. It wasn't that expensive, he had good numbers in the NL East and could serve as a 5th starter or longman.Things simply haven't worked out this year; is Redding just not that good or a guy who can't handle NY pressure or his struggles that can be attributed to his off-season injuries. It appears that the Mets are going to evaluate Redding and attempt to figure out what happened this year. Redding has one more of arbitration before he becomes a free agent, last year Washington chose not to offer him arbitration because of what he was due to make but in signing him the Mets retain control of him through 2010 if they chose to. As I said before, I thought it was a good signing and he has looked good of late, we will need a long man/ 5th starter next year and I could see a healthy Tim Redding filling that role, but I also wouldn't be that concerned if he was l...

From Schneider to Snyder ?

I believe next year the Mets are going to need at least a platoon partner for Omir Santos.Brian Schneider's contract is up at the end of the season and I can't see them bringing him back on the decline of his career.Santos has done a solid job this year but I'm not ready to make him the starter and just bring in a journeyman back-up.From everything I've read, Josh...

Reyes Anatomy

That doctor from SNY's constantly airing New York State Smokers Quitline commercial — the one who comes into the examining room and tells that poor, haunted guy all the diseases he risks contracting from indulging his filthy habit (kind of like a one-man death panel) — might make a good medical liaison for the Mets. Imagine him opening the door, making his diagnosis and then...

OFF TO $ITI FIELD, I HOPE I RECOGNIZE THE PLACE

Actual pictutes of Mets heros of the past on the wall ? Video boards installed for the fans to better follow the action? Championships duly noted with banners on the wall for all to see? Are these the New York Mets we’re talking about? Amazingly, yes. I can’t wait to check out the new and improved Mets-centirc $iti Field. I’m still puzzeled by those throwback unis...

Evaluating An Acquistion: Should the Mets Keep Francoeur?

When the Mets and Braves agreed to swap a couple of troubled outfielders, it was a shock to baseball. At the time, both of these teams were competing for a playoff spot, and they had agreed to swap two significant players, with the Braves receiving Ryan Church in exchange for Jeff Francoeur. I didn’t know what to think of it at the time, but eventually I came to like the deal....

What Should the Mets Do With Oliver Perez?

Oliver Perez is quickly becoming the new Luis Castillo. Last year, Mets fans and journalists routinely ridiculed Mets GM Omar Minaya for giving Castillo a lucrative four-year deal worth $25 million. This season, Minaya is drawing similar criticism for the three-year, $36 million deal that he gave to Perez. It’s hard to back Minaya up on this signing as Perez has been pretty...

Duquette on Statistical Analysis & Decision Making

Readers of the site know about some of the spirited debate going on here regarding statistical analysis. I questioned our good friends at Amazin Avenue, who tend to look at the game from a very numbers centric perspective. The best example is the Jeff Francoeur/Ryan Church trade, which continuously is analyzed by comparing numbers such [...]
