Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb is set to make his first minor league rehab start Tuesday in Port Charlotte for the Single-A Charlotte Stone Crabs, according to the Tampa Tribune. Cobb threw 59 pitches Thursday during a four-inning simulated game. Cobb had fielders behind him, and runners were placed in scoring position so he could pitch out of jams. Some batters bunted to give Cobb the opportunity to field his position. “It made me focus,” Cobb said. “And the thing that I was happy about was I was able to focus in and make some adjustments.” Cobb suffered a concussion and has been out of play since he was hit in the head by a line drive on June 15. Kansas City Royals batter, Eric Hosmer sent a ball right back up the middle and Cobb could not get out of the way. Cobb laid face down on the mound nearly completely motionless, aside from some movement in his feet and had to be removed by stretcher.
