I’ve wanted to write something about the Angels, but things have been rather quiet lately. I guess when a team spends over $350 million in one day, things were bound to slow down. While there is nothing new happening…….What? Wait…This just in. Angels ink Ryan Langerhans, Eric Hurley and Robinzon Diaz to minor league contracts. Nothing to get excited about as these guys will just fill spots in spring training. Langerhans is a great guy though. Interviewed him last year. Too bad he can’t hit much, as his .173/.317/.346 through 19 games last year with the Mariners will attest. Hurley was once a big prospect with the Rangers. A slew of arm injuries have derailed him recently, but I guess you never know. I know nothing about Diaz, other than the fact that he is the first guy I have ever heard of who has a ‘Z’ instead of an ‘S’ in his first name. What about some ex-Angels? Here’s a shocker, Fernando Rodney is still a free agent....

Arbitration Situation: Erick Aybar

In the next few weeks, the Angels will have to start getting into arbitration discussions with some of their key players. The first such big case, Erick Aybar. Why is his first? Well, because of alphabetical order, but it is still a big case. This is Erick's third and last year of team-controlled arbitration. Check back in a couple of years. Will they...

We know more about the district court's stay of the Dodgers TV rights auction: Stark said lawyers for Fox have demonstrated a substantial likelihood they will succeed in January's hearing. That's because the bankruptcy judge who freed the Dodgers from the current contract arrangement with Fox improperly relied on a single case in making his decision, Stark said. In addition...
