TEAMS: Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, St. Louis Cardinals
I've heard a lot of people complain this offseason that the Toronto Blue Jays didn't do enough to improve their team for 2012. Of course, these people tend to be those who believe the Jays should have thrown $300M at Pujols, $250M at Fielder, and $100M at Buerhle, but do they have a point that, on the whole, the Jays have stagnated to a detrimental degree?
The imrpovements, if any, have surely been of the smaller and more incremental variety. Primarily, the bullpen is almost completely overhauled, and it was done on the cheap. While you may think $4.5M for Francisco Cordero or Darren Oliver was too much, or that giving up prospect Nestor Molina's potential for Sergio Santos was too hefty a price, the Jays have still revamped their bullpen to be a budget-conscious $14M unit heavy on experience. It's also one that runs pretty deep, with some of Luis Perez, Carlos Villaneuva, Jesse Litsch, Joel Carreno, and more likely ticketed for Triple-A. $14M, I'll remind you, ...

The Toronto Blue Jays Weren’t Thinking About This When They Made Their Logo
The new Blue Jays logo is awesome. Really classy.
The old one wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t as good as the new one.
After a day walking around New York City on Saturday, I will never see the old Toronto logo in the same eyes ever again. I am very interested in street art, graffiti and how different groups take popular symbols and put a twist on them. I was walking...
The Great Big 2012 Blue Jays Forecast Series, Part 13: Kyle Drabek
With spring training officially just under a month away, we continue with a series of projections on what the 2012 Toronto Blue Jays might look like. Each day (don’t hold me to this), I will profile a 2012 Blue Jays starter, closing with a set of numbers based on my (usually positive) expectations. We continue to move along the projected rotation today with a look at former top...

Where the Jays Stand – Starting Rotation
Remember back in the fall when I was doing a weekly positional breakdown of the Jays as baseball traipsed through its eventful off-season and into the spring?
Well, I went across to diamond to every fielding position off the mound – and little has changed since then. At catcher, former Angel Jeff Mathis will take over the role as J.P. Arencibia’s back-up that was vacated by Tampa...
Player Profile #75: Ricky Romero | SP | TOR
If Jeremy Hellickson is the winner of the 2011 Pitch Who Best Outperformed Their Peripherals Award, then Ricky Romero is definitely the runner up. Last season, Romero’s 1.28-run gap between his ERA and FIP was the second largest in baseball (where the ERA was lower) behind only Hellickson. Romero ranked 60th on the season and we’re ranking him at 75, so clearly we think...
Top Prospect Update
Okay, Before I get to the main body of this post, this is just a shout out post which will be deleted once it (hopefully!) produces the desired results:I have a post on my list of things do to which involves remarking upon the various prospect ranking of high-profile sites. The one i'm yet waiting on is Keith Law. BUT in the mean time, i have a problem. I need SOMEONE who bought...
Marins sign relievers Camp, Kuo
The Seattle Mariners added a pair of arms to their bullpen Monday, signing right-hander Shawn Camp and lefty Hong-Chi Kuo to one-year deals.
Camp spent last season with Toronto, making a team-high 67 appearances. He posted a 6-3 record with a 4.21 ERA.
Kuo, an All-Star with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010, dealt with a back injury and anxiety issues last season. He had a 1.20 ERA...
Romero welcomes, embraces ace label
Ricky Romero is set to embark on just his fourth season in the big leagues, but he already has become the veteran leader of the Blue Jays' pitching staff.
