Tim Lincecum was forced to wait another day. After throwing a stinker of a first inning in his last start and following it up with five much stronger innings, he was eager to return to the mound and try to end his first-inning blues, which have dogged him in his first three starts.
BEST OF MAXIM
After surrendering 16 runs across his first 13.2 innings, Tim Lincecum finally settled down and got good results, allowing one run through five innings of work.
Lincecum struck out eight of the 23 batters he faced, and had them whiffing on his fastballs. Of course, swing-and-miss stuff hasn’t really been the problem for Lincecum so far. Through his first three starts...
If I didn't know better, if the guy on the mound had been someone other than Tim Lincecum, I would have just dismissed him as another struggling major league starter.
Tim Lincecum doesn't labor. Tim Lincecum doesn't top out at 92 mph and sit at 89-90. Tim Lincecum doesn't throw 108 pitches in five innings and need a spectacular 4-6-3 double play after his final pitch...

Fathers, look at yourself in the mirror and figure out why your kids are tools to the point where they’ll clone up like Brian Wilson and Tim Lincecum for a game in New York against the Mets (2-1 as I type). The little kid going with the Lincecum hair is cool because the former Cy Young is on the mound. And he’s a kid. Doesn’t know any better. It’s cute. As for Brian Wilson...
Tim Lincecum posted his first win of the season despite another uneven performance, Nate Schierholtz and Buster Posey homered and the San Francisco Giants beat the New York Mets 6-1 Monday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Slightly over 1,000 fans were in the stands when the opener began on a windy, raw afternoon better suited for the Bay Area and perhaps 10,000 were bundled...
After yesterday’s rain out, the Mets and Giants will double dip this afternoon as they will play two games starting at 4:10. In the first game Batista will get the nod against Lincecum while in the second game Bumgarner will start against Gee. In case you forgot about Saturday’s game the Mets were about to end their three game skid in the top of the ninth when a dropped fly...
The game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets has been postponed because of rain and rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader Monday beginning at 4:10 p.m.
With rain already falling and the forecast calling for showers all day, the game was called about 90 minutes before the scheduled start Sunday.
Giants ace Tim Lincecum, slated to pitch Sunday, will...
