Then when Friday came around, after a day off, Wright was not in the line-up and talking about how his pinkie was too swollen to swing a bat or throw the ball, I began to think maybe they're pushing it.

Even with his first inning homerun, as I watched him squeezing the foam to keep his finger loose and the announcers discussing how playing would slow the healing process, I'm concerned that this might not be a good idea.

If Wright is rushing back, is that Wright's work ethic pushing to return and if so, should the Mets allow him to be returning or is there other pressure to return.

I thought the tough guy mentality that use to dictate decisions within the Mets organization was eradicated with the new front office but Howard Megdal makes a strong case in Capitol New York that Wright maybe rushing back due to pressure from the organization.

When I attempt to dissect the Mets press release on Wright coupled with the leak, the very same day to the Daily News that a Wright extension hinges upon him proving his health, it's the later that seems to support Mr. Megdal's point for me.

I think I can chalk the press release about his injury up to an attempt to put a positive spin on the injury, especially since it is Wright and how pessimistic fans are about injuries do to the organizations recent history.  I do think the press release put the onus on Wright and probably was poorly worded.

However, the extension  leak was not only poor timing but poor handling of the situation, plain and simple the Mets should lock Wright up for his career and put the "C"  on his shirt.

The point isn't that the Mets don't have the right to hope their players return to the field. But the organization continues to both feed the sympathetic members of the press internal doubts about their players, damaging reputations in the process, while failing to provide cover to their players so they can make intelligent decisions about returning. source Capitol New York
