Call him Aaron History.

Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill became the second player in major league history to hit for the cycle twice in a season when he repeated in a 9-3 victory at Milwaukee on Friday. It was the second time Hill had done it in 11 days and the first double-cycle since Babe Herman had two for the Brooklyn Robins in 1931.

"He's been locked in lately," D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said. "It's a great, great feat."

Hill hit a ground-rule double that bounced over the fence down the left-field line in the first inning, looped a single to left-center to help ignite a five-run third, hammered a hanging breaking ball from Randy Wolf for a two-run homer and an 8-1 lead in the fourth, and tripled to right center to drive in the D-backs' final run in the sixth.

Hill hit his first cycle in four plate appearances in a 7-1 victory over Seattle on June 18. He struck out in his fifth at-bat Friday.

"It feels great. First and foremost, it is fun to contribute and win the ballgame," Hill said.

Hill's double in the first inning was the 1,000th career hit of his eight-year career, spent mostly with Toronto. Needing a triple when he batted in the sixth, Hill hit a deep fly to the fence in right-center field and beat the throw to third easily.

"Once I saw it in the gap, there are big gaps here. You just try to do as much as you can and keep hustling," Hill said.

Hill has been as hot as any player in baseball in the last nine games, with 20 hits in 42 at-bats. He had five doubles, four homers and 11 RBI, all of the damage coming when he hit second in the order. He batted seventh once in that stretch, going 0-for-4.

"When he's been in the No. 2 spot he's been crushing the ball. They elevate the ball, and he is not missing," Gibson said.
