The Oakland Athletics have recalled right-hander Andrew Carignan from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-hander Graham Godfrey back to the River Cats.
The team announced the move before Sunday's game against the New York Yankees.
Carignan joins the A's for the third time this year. He is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA in seven relief appearances.
Godfrey was recalled May 22 for his second stint with the A's. He started and lost that day against the Los Angeles Angels, allowing four runs in 3.0 innings. He allowed three runs on five hits in two innings of relief Saturday against New York. Godfrey is 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA in five games with Oakland.
