Atlanta, GA. Atlanta Braves’ Chipper Jones should be the NL MVP for 2012. Chipper isn’t in the top five in any statistical category but is hitting .302 so far this year. He is a career .304 hitter with 1619 career RBI and 2711 hits. I am of the opinion that the MVP of the league should be the player that affects his team the most regardless of statistics. Chipper this year has been a veteran leader for the Braves and continues to be one of the best players in Atlanta Braves history.

Why would I make this argument? Why not? Chipper has been the shining example of what a major league baseball player should be throughout his career. Never the target of steroid suspicion or PED references Chipper has played through injuries and has performed for almost twenty years with one organization. With this year being his swan song let the old man go out on top. The Braves currently in the NL Wild Card lead but would likely be out of the race without the leadership of Jones. He has had clutch hits and walk off home runs this year although he is not thought of as a key to the Braves success this season.

Chipper Jones should be a first ballot Hall of Famer, without question. Even if the Braves tumble out of playoff contention, voters should consider voting for Chipper for NL MVP to prove that playing the game right for your entire career should garnish reward.

  • lol wow now this is what is wrong with the media! He states his reasons why but list career stats and achievements into the debate. THATS what the HALL of SHAME is for not repeat the YEARLY MVP, and the MVP should be for the MVP of the year for the league NOT a team .... that is what TEAM awards are for you fool. Please, if you want to say I believe C. Jones is the MVP and I have no factual reason other than its what i believe, i can accept that but please understand the award and what it is before you post silly little rants like this
  • LOL oh an a parting shot. He states a player who affects hi team the most regardless of stats should win ????
So that means that a player who basically has a terrible season with play that virtually assures his team that his play will deffinetly cost them wins should be the MVP of the season ????????????

McCann's time in Atlanta may be running out

ATLANTA -- There was a time, not too long ago, when I thought Brian McCann would be the next face of the Braves.
