This isn't good news for the Mets who have been struck by injuries all season long. Judging by Beltran's comments, he's not sounding too positive about an immediate return either. Hopefully some rest can get him healthy. On a positive note, if Beltran does need a few games to rest it happened at a good time. With the Mets looking for a sweep today against the Pirates and the Nationals visiting Shea for a weekend series, Beltran's bat shouldn't be missed as much as if they were playing a playoff contender. He will be needed next week when, starting Tuesday, the Mets hit the road with series in Milwaukee and Chicago.
Lastings Milledge got the start in center field last night, with Marlon Anderson playing left. Look for this to continue until Beltran is able to return to the lineup or Moises Alou is healthy enough to come off the disabled list.
