Henry Blanco behind the dishOriginally uploaded by Michael G. BaronDespite Mike Pelfrey's requests and the Mets polite stance that they are open to Henry Blanco, it seems like a foregone conclusion that they will go in another direction. The Mets want a younger backup catcher who doesn't have a bad back. However, it doesn't appear that Blanco will struggle to get work, in fact it appears he heads the D-Backs list. The Diamondbacks have interest in a backup catcher, and I’m told that free agent veteran Henry Blanco is at or near the top of their list. Blanco, 39, hit just .215 with the Mets last season and is a career .227 hitter in parts of 13 seasons. He’s considered a great clubhouse guy and a mentor/coach-on-the-field type. source AZ Central
