And we thought the Dodgers were already all-in on this season.
After adding Hanley Ramirez and Shane Victorino and Joe Blanton and a few others, LA made one more big (some would say “crazy”) move over the weekend, bringing in Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford (who’s useless for this year) and Nick Punto, and their contracts, of course, from Boston for the final push toward the playoffs.
The question now becomes “Will all these new acquisitions get the Dodgers to the World Series?”
A Good Start
LA just took two of three games from the Marlins over the weekend, missing out on the sweep by falling Sunday 6-2. And they got an immediate dividend from Gonzalez, who went three-for-nine from the plate with a homer and four RBI in his first two games with the Dodgers.
LA will now look for immediate help from the struggling Beckett, who will start the opener of a three-game series in Denver vs. the Rockies Monday night.

Josh Beckett takes loss in Dodgers debut
Los Angeles Dodgers newly acquired pitcher Josh Beckett, was lit up in his debut by the first batter he faced, Tyler Colvin of the Colorado Rockies, as the Dodgers lost 10-0 on Monday night.
Colvin smashed a homer into the upper deck on an 0-1 fastball.
Beckett allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings. He retired six batters in a row after Colvin's homer, but the Rockies got...
Adrian Gonzalez, Red Sox Have No Reason to Show Ill Will Toward Each Other After Trade
The trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez and his Red Sox teammates west will go down as one of the biggest, craziest moves in the history of MLB -- or all of sports. Whether fans and critics think the trade was a good idea or not, what Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington pulled in dealing so many big-name stars with commensurate contracts puts him among the legends. Trades like this...
Does Adrian Gonzalez Perform Better In Empty Ballparks?
On the most recent episode of Ride The Pine – The Biggest Trade In The History Of Sports – we made a claim that the Los Angeles Dodgers newly acquired first baseman Adrian Gonzalez performs best in ballparks with empty seats and it wasn’t surprising that he hit a home run in his first at bat with the Dodgers because, as the pretty graphic shows you, there were a lot of empty...

Mauro Gomez Determined to Show Off Bat, Audition For First Base Opening With Adrian Gonzalez Gone
BOSTON -- Even in a defeat to the Royals, there was a nice sight. On a day the Red Sox cleaned house, another obscure farmhand flexed his muscle and capitalized on Adrian Gonzalez's departure -- Mauro Gomez. During his first at-bat, the new Red Sox first baseman ignited the offense with a solo shot over the Monster. It was the 27-year-old's first career home run in the big...
Nick Punto Always Envisioned Winning World Series in Boston, Says 'That's the Part That Stinks' About Trade
Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto were all smiles as they boarded a flight to Los Angeles in the wake of the Red Sox' blockbuster trade with the Dodgers. But at least a little part of Punto was disappointed. Punto is seen as a throw-in in the megadeal that alleviated the Sox of over $250 million in bad contracts, but the veteran infielder admits he had big things on...
Daisuke Matsuzaka Set to Pitch Monday in Place of Josh Beckett (Video)
On Saturday, in the wake of the Red Sox' mega-trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston made a number of corresponding roster moves to fill out its bench. Though he won't be added to the roster until Monday, count Daisuke Matsuzaka among those who will be given a chance with four players having been jetisoned to L.A. Matsuzaka is slated to start in place of Josh Beckett...

Did LA make the right move?
The Dodgers took on over a quarter of a billion dollars in salary in their massive trade with the Red Sox, but given the alternatives that will be available this offseason, it may have been the right move.
Will Red Sox Nation Be Patient As The Sox Reset?
The Red Sox made the trade heard round the world last Saturday when they shipped Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Nick Punto, Carl Crawford and the bulk of their salaries to the Dodgers. The move was met with almost overwhelming approval from Red Sox Nation. The move also opened up many unanswered questions as to the direction of the team. We know that the Red Sox will be going...
Dodgers Got Rocked By Rockies 10-0
The Dodgers must not have gotten the memo to the Rockies in time about the block buster deal they made with the Red Sox. The Rockies hammered the Dodgers 10-0 last night. Josh Beckett pitched for 5-2/3 giving up 3 runs on 7 hits which wasn’t too bad, the real damage came later in the game from the Dodgers bull pen. Kenley Jansen pitched for only 2/3′s of an inning and gave up...
