The Blue Jays formally introduced Jose Reyes to fans and media on Friday in Toronto. General manager Alex Anthopoulos was very excited to add Reyes who he called a catalyst and one of the most dynamic players he ever saw: “I don’t know that we’re going to see another shortstop like this in Toronto for a long time,” the GM said Toronto’s Rogers Centre Friday afternoon. “I don’t know that we could ever think we’re going to draft someone like this or sign someone like this out of Latin America. This is one of the great players to play the game.” “He’s probably one of my favorite players in the league to watch. He’s the type of guy you want to watch play. He’s electric. High energy, smile on his face, just so many things. This is a rare guy to find. Leadoff, shortstop, energy, makeup — check off every single box.” Reyes, 29,  said he found out he was traded while receiving dozens of texts while vacationing in Dubai with his family, but quickly realized he was in a better situation

Reyes says Loria told him he would stay in Miami

Jose Reyes was in a hotel room in the Middle East when he received the surprising news: He had been traded from the downsizing Miami Marlins to the bulking-up Toronto Blue Jays. Oliver's return strengthens Blue Jays' bullpen

The return of Darren Oliver as the Toronto Blue Jays' main left-handed reliever increases the competition for jobs in the bullpen at spring training. "It's going to be a very competitive camp," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. Oliver does not have to worry about earning a spot, obviously. Casey Janssen, who became last year's closer; Sergio Santos...

Player Profile #144: Colby Rasmus | OF | TOR

It seems like it was so long ago when we were talking about Colby Rasmus as a future fantasy stud. It’s now been two disappointing seasons so what do we make of him? He was a top prospect who once had a season in Double-A where he hit .275/.381/.551 with 29 homers and 18 steals, and in his 2010 sophomore campaign in the Majors he put up a .276/.361/.498 slash with 23 homers and...

Jeff Niemann agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Rays for 2013 after losing arbitration. The news on the signing first broke on Twitter via Jon Heyman of CBS.  Niemann, who turns 30 next month, was placed on the 60-day D.L. last season on May 14th. He was 2-3 with a 3.38 ERA before breaking his leg due to a comebacker from Toronto’s Adam Lind. He would return in September...
