Now that Toronto's Dustin McGowan has his major-league return out of the way, the veteran righthander may be given a chance to audition for a spot in next year's starting rotation.Blue Jays manager John Farrell says McGowan may be given the start for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The start is scheduled to go to Luis Perez, but he was torched for eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in Tuesday's one-sided loss to Boston.McGowan made his first appearance in the big leagues in more than three years later in that game. The 29-year-old, who suffered significant shoulder and arm injuries that kept him out of action, allowed three runs over four innings while striking out five.McGowan will likely be in the mix for the 2012 starting rotation, with nothing set behind Ricky Romero, Brett Cecil and Brandon Morrow.
