Found November 16, 2011 on MetsZilla:
PLAYERS: Jim BowdenJose Reyes
TEAMS: New York Mets

Late Tuesday night, Jim Bowden of ESPN tweeted that free agent shortstop Jose Reyes has two “legit” offers, presumable from the Marlins and Mets:

While Bowden states the offers are “presumable” from the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York has heard other wise. When Rubinasked a Mets insider if there was any major news — be it an offer to Reyes or otherwise — Rubin cites the insider as stating, “No, there’s nothing.”

According to Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog:

Bowden says, ‘presumably from the Marlins and Mets,’ but it seems he is guessing here – not reporting. And so, since we know Miami made an offer, and if Rubin’s tweet is accurate, then who is the second team? From what I could gather out of sources earlier today, Jose’s people had yet to talk numbers with the Tigers, Nationals or Brewers. So, who is Team 2?

Like Cerrone says, who is team number 2? I guess that’s the million dollar, or should I say, the hundred million dollar question. Stay tuned folks, it’s only November

Loss Of Reyes Does Not Impact The Mets' Rebuild

If the reports that the Miami Marlins have extended a 6 year, $90 million dollar contract offer to Jose Reyes are true, I think it is time for Mets fans to make their peace with the fact that Reyes will not be returning next season.  While the loss of the organization's most popular player certainly deals a blow to the hopes of any Met fan hoping their team could remain in contention...

Rubin: Mets inform teams that Daniel Murphy is available

The ‘non-Jose Reyes’ talk has continued to pick up around the New York Mets water cooler during the Winter meetings as the club, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, is telling other teams that Daniel Murphy is available for trade: Photo by Michael G. Baron In conversations with other teams at the GM Meetings in Milwaukee this week, a source confirmed the Mets informed...

Darren Rovell: Mets are desperate for season ticket sales

Matthew Cerrone: Well, the Mets didn’t do themselves any favors by setting the renewal date so early (Nov. 7), since – at that point – those fans had no idea what they’re agreeing to pay to see (i.e., Jose Reyes). To be honest, I have heard from more fans this November - compared to years past – saying they do not intend to make that type of investment next year. In...

Marlins Offer Reyes 6 Years, $90 Million

The Miami Marlins’ preliminary offer to Jose Reyes was for six years, $90 million a source has told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. In addition to that going for them, the story cited a source saying the potential of playing in a warm climate, which would lessen the risk to his hamstrings, as well as playing for Ozzie Guillen, would be attractive to Reyes. If this is true it disputes...

Mets think they can “play” at 6 years, $90m for Reyes

However, according to Andy Martino of the Daily News, it’s still unlikely the Mets go to six years on any contract offer to Jose Reyes. Here are other key updates about Jose over the last few days: The Mets believe they will get an offer to counter any offer to Reyes, writes Joel Sherman of the New York Post. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Marlins have offered...

Marlins offer to Reyes is close to 6 years, $90m

According to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, the reported offer of six years, $90 million to Jose Reyes is close, but “not accurate,” although Capozzi doesn’t indicate whether the actual offer is for a lower or higher value in dollars or years. Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Marlins have offered Reyes a six-year, $90 million deal. However, according to Rosenthal...

In Case You Missed It: Mets Weekend Review

In case you missed it, this past weekend: Despite two radio hosts and a number of people on Twitter saying Jose Reyes agreed to sign with the Marlins, he did not ink a deal and most mainstream sources, as well as MetsBlog.com, said (as of last night) nothing has happened. MMO Fan Shot: Smart Spending, Saving Money and Long Term Planning

It is said over and over again that the problem with the Mets is a combination of financial difficulties coupled with unwise spending and negligence in development of youth needed to build a winning franchise. There is some truth in all of this the only question seems to be in the perception of how bad and how much applies to each argument. In the case of Bad contracts the usual...
