Late Tuesday night, Jim Bowden of ESPN tweeted that free agent shortstop Jose Reyes has two “legit” offers, presumable from the Marlins and Mets:
While Bowden states the offers are “presumable” from the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York has heard other wise. When Rubinasked a Mets insider if there was any major news — be it an offer to Reyes or otherwise — Rubin cites the insider as stating, “No, there’s nothing.”
According to Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog:
Bowden says, ‘presumably from the Marlins and Mets,’ but it seems he is guessing here – not reporting. And so, since we know Miami made an offer, and if Rubin’s tweet is accurate, then who is the second team? From what I could gather out of sources earlier today, Jose’s people had yet to talk numbers with the Tigers, Nationals or Brewers. So, who is Team 2?
Like Cerrone says, who is team number 2? I guess that’s the million dollar, or should I say, the hundred million dollar question. Stay tuned folks, it’s only November
