Well, at least we know that Brandon McCarthy knows how to take a joke.

The Diamondbacks’ newest pitcher apparently took care of getting his license renewed over the holiday break. There was just one problem, though: The local DMV got its letters mixed up.

While McCarthy’s license correctly states that he’s 6-foot-7 and has hazel eyes (we think), the easy party — male or female — appears to have gotten adjusted during the renewal process. McCarthy’s wife, Amanda, was all over it.



Of all people to have such a mistake made on his driver’s license, though, Brandon McCarthy may be the guy. Last year, when he was involved in one of baseball’s scariest moments after being hit by a line drive, he bounced back by doing all kinds of joking, including some shenanigans his wife didn’t exactly approve of.

He may be able to have some fun with this one, too.

  • If he's in Arizona, why does he have a Texas license? I'm from Texas and that is a Texas license. Also, look in the upper corner. Right below "USA" is the state abbreviation "TX." Are we sure this is even for real.

  • Where does it say he is in AZ? He PLAYS for them, but few ball players live off-season where they play ball. Too much moving around. Most pick a place they want to live, and that is where they keep their legal address. During the season they rent condos or bunk with a buddy who might live in that city year round.

  • Tax' are different in Texas. Check State Income Tax, also if your registering a vehicle in Arizona the plates cost more, so you keep it in Texas.
