Pro Sports Daily:
ATLANTA – Cliff Lee pitched seven shutout innings and drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to chase Tim Hudson from the game and lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Martin Prado’s lead-off home run in the eighth inning off reliever B.J. Rosenberg provided the Braves’ only run. “I felt like I was locating pretty good,” Lee said. “Mixing my off-speed pitches and staying out of the heart of the plate. When you’re doing that, it’s hard to hit.” With shadows creeping across the infield in the late afternoon start, Hudson (13-5) got plenty of his patented ground-ball outs, but when the Phillies did hit him, they made it count. “I just wasn’t very good today,” Hudson said. “That’s probably the worst stuff I’ve had all year.” John Mayberry Jr. drove in a run in the first inning on a two-out single to center and Jimmy Rollins led off the third inning with a home run that glanced off the netting of the right field foul pole.

Wow. What a collapse. The Phillies were just inches away from closing within 7 games of a wild card spot and keeping some playoff chances alive, though remind. Instead, the Phillies would end the game 9 games behind the Braves in the Wild Card race and 8 games behind St. Louis.

GAME OVER, MAN
Back on May 2nd, the Braves beat the Phillies 15-13 in 11 innings on a walkoff homer by Chipper Jones in one of the craziest games of the year. Four months to the day later...Jones did it again, hitting a three-run homer off of Jonathan Papelbon in the bottom of the ninth to give the Braves an 8-7 win in a game they once trailed 7-1.
This win was a necessary one for Atlanta,...
In this quick blurb from mlb.com, Carlos Ruiz spoke about possibly just missing the remaining month of the season to reccover:
"I don't want to come back and the injury happens again. I don't try to push it too much -- just taking it nice and easy with my running. If I feel something, stop. But so far, I feel real good. It'll be a little hard. It's not completely...
De Fratus is back after arm issues (AP)
The Phillies youth movement in the bullpen continues. On Saturday, lefty Jake Dikeman was recalled from Lehigh Valley and on Sunday Justin De Fratus made the trip to meet the Phillies in Atlanta.
Diekman’s control was the issue and the reason why he was demoted. That continued with the Iron Pigs as he walked 10 batters in 11 1/3 innings...
With an 8-5 win tonight over the Atlanta Braves, the Phillies are now only 8 games out of the Wild Card. If they sweep the Braves, they will only be 6 games out — with 3 more games against them come Mid-September. The Phillies need to cover 3 games + sweep these 2 series, to make the playoffs? Not impossible!

ATLANTA (AP) -- Fredi Gonzalez isn't concerned about another September collapse.
The Braves manager is worried about his offense.

Jonathan Papelbon quietly packed his red Phillies travel bag in the visitor’s clubhouse Sunday night at Turner Field.
The closer had just served up a three-run home run to Braves third baseman Chipper Jones in the bottom of the ninth inning in a brutal 8-7 loss. Papelbon is paid big money to close games, so any time he blows one he is upset.
But this one had a different feeling...
STEWART TO THE BRAVES? – Tony Stewart has a heck of an arm, and he proved it last weekend at Bristol when he heaved his helmet at the hood of Matt Kenseth’s car. That arm did not go unnoticed, and Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he received a small token of appreciation.
Atlanta Motor Speedway President and General Manager Ed Clark presented Stewart with an Atlanta Braves jersey...
